Chimney Inspection and Cleaning
HMS provides an excellent inspection and cleaning service.
The National Fire Protection Association code 211 states that an annual inspection of all chimneys, vents and the attached appliance(s) is required for safety purposes.
Our Inspection and Cleaning service starts with a full inspection of your fireplace and chimney system. If your system is clean, no cleaning will be performed and you will only be charged the inspection charge. If the system is in need of cleaning, the technician will clean it thoroughly - all the way from the firebox through the entire chimney system to the top - and you will not be charged the inspection charge, just the cleaning charge. Part of the cleaning process includes a thorough check to see if the system meets code or if there are any needed repairs.
Cleanliness of your house is of utmost importance to HMS. The area will be masked off and drop cloths and floor runners will be laid over your floor. The technician also wears foot coverings to protect your home from the cleaning process.
A written report is provided to the customer after every inspection and/or cleaning. The technician then goes over the report with the homeowner and explains the general condition of the stove and chimney. If any problems are found with the chimney or stove, the technician will inform homeowner of the repairs needed. Then the technician and homeowner both sign the report. The homeowner can then decide whether or not they would like to have HMS perform the needed repairs, if any.
