We feel that a customer is going to be more likely to be happy with our service if they are charged only for work done. Many chimney and stove companies in this area do charge mileage. Many times these mileage charges well exceed the actual charge for the services rendered. Not at HMS. Especially now with gas prices as high as they have become, it is definitely a concern. However, since HMS is a small, family owned business, there is little overhead as in the larger companies. We can afford to keep our prices competitive for the area and still not charge mileage. When you call with an interest in having your chimney cleaned/inspected or to get an estimate, we will set an appointment with you when we talk to you. We are willing to work around your schedule. During the fall burning season, HMS’ schedule does get tight. However, we will set an appointment with you when it works for you. Many companies tell you they will call you back when they get close to having an opening. NOT HMS. We feel that if you thought it was important enough to call us, it should be important enough for us to give you our time and set an appointment then and will give you an estimate of the cost over the phone.
-- 5% QUIK-PAY DISCOUNT –
HMS Chimney Service also provides a 5% discount on chimney cleaning and inspection services if the customer pays the technician before he leaves the jobsite. This is a benefit to the customer as well as to HMS. The benefit to HMS is that there is a lot less paperwork. A bill does not have to be sent and less time is spent on this particular job. There are several benefits to the customer. First of all, they pay less! Saving money is important! Secondly, there isn’t the need to budget in advance. Since the customer was given an estimate over the phone, they will know what they will be paying ahead of time.
-- FORWARD SCHEDULING –
Since it is recommended to have your chimney inspected/cleaned once a year, many customers would like to have that done. HMS takes the hassle out of it for you! At the time of your chimney cleaning, the technician will give you the opportunity to set a tentative date for next year’s inspection and/or cleaning. If it doesn’t work for you to set an exact date at that time, we do keep a list of all customers who are interested in a yearly service. Then in about a year, you will receive a postcard reminding you that it is once again time to set an appointment to have your chimney inspected. It’s really that simple. HMS takes all the work out of it for you. Another way that HMS beats the competition hands down!

If there are any needed repairs found when the technician is at your home cleaning/inspecting the chimney, he will finish his cleaning and then completely explain the repairs needed and a possible cost and then leave it up to you as to whether you want the repairs done.

Our technician will lay drop cloths and floor runners throughout your home to protect it from soot. He will also wear Tyvek booties over his boots when in your home to keep from tracking mud, dirt or anything else into your home. When cleaning the stove or fireplace the area will be taped off to prevent ash and dust from filtering into your home. Cleanliness is one of our highest priorities!
